PhD candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/pleasurescapes.eu\/?page_id=1247\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pleasurescapes.eu\/?page_id=1247\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marc Ge<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/pleasurescapes.eu\/?page_id=1247\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pleasurescapes.eu\/?page_id=1247\">li<\/a> investigates this area in the period 1914 to 1919. During these years of the First World War, the city experienced drastic changes due to Spain\u2019s neutrality in the conflict. The arrival of foreign capitals allowed, among other influences, the change of the leisure offers, a more relaxed morality and the cosmopolization of Barcelona. Paral\u00b7lel Avenue and the 5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0District became the epicenter of the entertainment industry across classes, but how far did this seeming equality of classes reach exactly? Along with an analysis of the change \u2013 as well as its continuities \u2013 of the traditional entertainment models, this research scrutinizes how accessible the new leisure offers were to all social classes or where boundaries emerged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pleasurescapes.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/5E8B2350-DFBA-4E16-AEB1-46F96A9E988E-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"The Om street (Fifth District) in 1934.
